Lyrics (by Mark Landson)

His hands were large hands and strong hands that lifted me up to see
Cut hands and scarred from the making of things now in memory

Wisdom in words that were few
“Sleep now let dreams wash away any pain that is troubling you.”
And the morning would prove it was true.

Her hands were soft hands and loved hands that opened for everyone
Hands that were patient protective
And wanting the best for us

Days making pralines and pies
Summers when books took us places where birds never dream to fly
And the flowers we picked in July

With the memories of summers long past in my eyes,
a warm wind in December brings buds to a vine.
Though the pain in my heart tells me all that remains are the memories of those that we grieve,
still the roses of December…

His hands were strong hands and scarred hands that lifted me up to see
Her hands were patient, protective and brought out the best of me

Their love was made day by day
Petals of roses protected by thorns keeping harm away
And the roses are blooming today

With the memories of summers long past in my eyes,
a warm wind in December brings buds to a vine.
Though the pain in my heart tells me all that remains are the memories of those that we grieve,
still the roses of December… make me want to believe
