Goldilocks! Comic pastiche opera (35 min)

A comic children’s opera, suitable for educational opera performances. Duration 35 minutes, SATB plus piano and puppeteer. A combination of famous opera works and original music by Mark Landson.

This comic children’s opera is perfect for educational outreach as presented by many opera companies. It follows the same format as other popular outreach operas. Its running time of 35 minutes is designed to fit within a special event class period for school presentation, and the cast is the standard cast formation of SATB. The accompaniment included is for piano alone, as is usual for this type of production, but if there is a request for a full orchestra version, let me know and I can create that. Unlike most other outreach operas, Goldilocks! is through composed, with sung recitative instead of spoken dialogue, for a true opera experience. There is also a comic character of a bird (puppet), which can be played by a stage crew member for conservation of forces.
